So you want to reach with your website to million of users to demonstrate your  products,  services or even your   blog for that what you need to do in order to register your website and pages in search engine,But before we do us will just drive a little backward and see how search engine find web pages matching queries in order of most relevant & updated content.

 

Let’s say for example when you performing a Google search,  programs check index to determine the most relevant search results to be returned (“served”) to your site.

Well search engines crawl, index, and rank web pages. SEOs should base their tactics on these primary activities. The conclusions for SEOs working at any level boils down to these essential facts The three key processes in delivering search results to you are:

1. Crawling :  

Search Engine use a huge set of computers to fetch (or “crawl”) billions of pages on the web.  The program that does the fetching for Google is called  Googlebot (also known as a robot, bot, or spider).for Yahoo that does is known as Yahoo Slurp & For MSN its known as MSNBot and all these discovers new and updated page to be added in the search engine.

Search Engine crawl process begins with a list of web page URLs, generated from previous crawl processes, and augmented with Sitemap data provided by webmasters. Googlebot/Slurp/ MSN boot visits each of these websites it detects links on each page and adds them to its list of pages to crawl.

2. Indexing :

Googlebot/ Slurp/ MSNbot processes each of the pages it crawls in order to compile a massive index of all the words it sees and their location on each page. In addition, they process information included in key content tags and attributes, such as Title tags and ALT attributes.

New sites, changes to existing sites, and dead links are noted and used to update the Google index

3.. Serving Results

When a user enters a query, Search Engine machines search the index for matching pages and return the results we believe are the most relevant to the user. Relevancy is different criterion and determined by over 200 factors, one of which is thePageRank for a given page..

Google bot: Googlebot uses an algorithmic process: computer programs determine which sites to crawl, how often, and how many pages to fetch from each site.

Page rank : PageRank is the measure of the importance of a page based on the incoming links from other pages

Spider trapA condition of dynamic Web sites in which a search engine’s spider becomes trapped in an endless loop of code.

Search engine  : A program that searches documents for specified keywords and returns a list of the documents where the keywords were found.

Meta tag  : A special HTML tag that provides information about a Web page.

Deep link :  A hyperlink either on a Web page or in the results of a search engine query to a page on a Web site other than the site’s home page.
